1. Bharat Mart, the Virtual Trade Corridor and Bharat-Africa Setu are connected India–UAE initiatives that combine physical trade infrastructure, digital logistics and access to African markets.

2. These initiatives aim to reduce logistics delays, lower compliance costs and help Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) enter global supply chains directly.

3. Bharat Mart is a 2.7 million square foot business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketplace being developed by DP World in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Dubai.

4. Bharat Mart will include 1,500 showrooms, more than 700,000 square feet of warehousing, light industrial units and office spaces.

6. The foundation stone of Bharat Mart was laid in early 2024. The project is expected to open by late 2026.

7. Bharat Mart is located near Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport. It allows Indian exporters to display and store goods in the Gulf region and connect with international buyers without depending heavily on intermediaries.

9. The corridor operates through the Master Application for International Trade and Regulatory Interface (MAITRI) platform. It supports pre-arrival customs clearance, allowing cargo documentation to be processed before a ship departs.

10. Digital customs integration can reduce paperwork, regulatory delays and operational costs for cross-border traders.

11. Bharat-Africa Setu is a multimodal sea-and-air trade bridge launched by India’s Ministry of Commerce and DP World. It uses the UAE as a gateway for expanding India’s trade with Africa.

12. Instead of relying only on direct shipping to fragmented African ports, Indian exporters can use the UAE’s re-export infrastructure and logistics network for easier market access.

13. Through DP World’s network, the initiative provides access to 53 African countries, supported by 10 ports, 3 economic zones and more than 1.5 million square metres of warehousing across Africa.

14. Bharat-Africa Setu aims to double India–Africa trade and increase India’s share in Africa’s total imports from 6.5 percent to 12 percent by 2030.

15. The initiatives strengthen the India–UAE–Africa economic framework, complement the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), support the target of US$ 200 billion in non-oil trade by 2032, and are supported by digital-payment links such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay cards in the UAE.
